Set in the heart of the glorious Perthshire countryside, approximately one hour’s drive North of Edinburgh, and 20 minutes away from the market town Perth, Meikleour House stands on the banks of the famous river Tay.
Although 250 years old, the East Wing of the House has been completely modernised offering up to date facilities in an historic setting. All bedrooms are en suite with a lift to all floors while rooms retain their original proportions with many period features and antique furnishings. With 5 beautiful bedrooms (three superKing and two twins) and a downstairs flat (King size bed) the East Wing can accommodate 12 guests (please note that the flat, although very well appointed, is more simply decorated).
The House is surrounded by its own mature grounds, including the world’s tallest beech hedge, superb specimen trees and an outstanding woodland garden. There are numerous paths through the gardens and along the river in this secluded setting.
The adjacent Tay provides some of the best salmon fishing in Scotland. The House is only minutes away from the prestigious lower Tay beats and of course our beautiful Upper Islamouth & Meikleour House Beat is accessible from the garden.
For Golf enthusiasts the delightful championship Rosemount course in Blairgowrie is just 5 miles away, and East Wing guests can enjoy 6 Club guest memberships during their stay. There are several world famous golf courses (St. Andrews, Gleneagles and Carnoustie) within easy reach.
If you are planning to visit Perthshire for fishing, shooting, golfing or simply enjoying this majesctic part of Scotland, Meikleour House East Wing is the ideal private country retreat.
<- A successful salmon fishing day at Meikleour was recently featured in a 24min program produced by Fishing TV and aired on BT Sport, Sky Sport and Discovery HD. You can see the beautiful garden of the house. Enjoy this short clip!
